Minnesota motorcycle crash results in fatality

A motorcycle crash on the evening of July 29 left a 61-year-old man dead. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling east on County Road 8 near Lanesboro when a westbound 2012 Toyota pickup truck collided with the motorcycle.

Police say that the truck was in the process of turning left onto County Road 17 to head south when the driver hit the biker. The four occupants of the pickup truck were not injured. In addition to the MSP, local EMS units responded at the scene. No information about whether charges will be filed has been released at this time, and the cause of the crash was not reported.

Since motorcycle accidents could involve fatalities, family members often have expenses to cope with that may seem overwhelming. Funeral and burial costs can be a challenge for many families, especially when provisions were not made in advance. The results of an accident like this can be especially devastating when the deceased was one of the primary income earners in the family.

Motorcycle accidents, even when the injured party survives, could still require a long recovery, and injuries may still be very serious in spite of safety measures like motorcycle helmets. For instance, head and neck injuries have the potential to cause permanent disability. Even injuries that may initially seem less serious like road rash can have unexpected complications. Injured motorcyclists or the family members of those lost in motorcycle accidents may want to consult with a personal injury lawyer to determine the best course of action.
