Nisson drivers may get $800 to repair auto defects

Nissan has settled a class-action lawsuit regarding faulty brakes in certain 2004-2008 models. The settlement could reimburse Minnesota drivers of the vehicles mentioned in the suit with up to $800 apiece. Nissan filed the settlement on Dec. 5 with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Vehicle rollovers in Minnesota

Although vehicle rollovers account for only three percent of all serious crashes, when they do occur they make up 30 percent of all fatal collisions. Despite the high risk of serious personal injury or death, Minnesota residents may be surprised to learn that the government has no regulations in place to govern rollover safety for automobile manufacturers.

Safety tips for new Minnesota motorcycle riders

Although adventure and fuel efficiency are attractive reasons for riding on motorcycles, it is important to understand that there are some serious dangers for a motorcyclist, especially for a new rider. Statistically, the risk of dying in a motorcycle accident is 30 times greater than in a car accident. Nearly 50 percent of motorcycle-related deaths result from one-vehicle accidents. The risks are greater for older riders whose reflexes, bone strength, and eyesight can lead to more vulnerability in an accident. Alcohol and speeding are two leading factors in such accidents, meaning that some basic precautions can reduce one's risks.
